2025 ANNUAL ULSTER COUNTY HORSE COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP

Ulster County Horse Council proudly offers a $500 scholarship to a current (2025) Graduating High School Senior Student.

Requirements:

Ulster County Resident.
Student to include a cover page biography that tells UCHC about yourself: Include Name, Address, Graduating High School, Age, Equine background, Major and College, and Field of interest.
A letter of recommendation from a non family member.
Include a 500 word essay on the following: History of Agriculture in Ulster County.
Due MAY 30 of 2025.
Media release consent.
2025 applicants only.

The agricultural heritage of Ulster County has a rich and abundant history. We are looking for an essay about any part that is of the applicant's interest, or a part that personally relates to the applicant , family ties or a life changing experience. Essay topic to include some history (past or present) and is open to applicant's interpretation.

All applications are to contain the following: applicant's name, address (email and physical), and a biography.

A Five Hundred Dollar ($500) check will be mailed to the attending college/ technical school after providing student ID # (it will go directly into the student account).

2023 UCHC Scholarship Winner: Zoe Hartrum

Ulster County Horse Council is pleased to announce Zoe Hartrum of Saugerties, NY as the winner of our 2023 Scholarship. Zoe is 18 years old and a graduating senior of Saugerties High School and also has completed a two-year Animal Science Program at Ulster county BOCES. Zoe grew up around animals and loves caring for them. Her deep love for all animals developed while growing up around them at her grandparents' farm. Zoe has a very easy going personality, is crafty and loves to draw, paint, read and just have fun.

Zoe will be attending SUNY Cobleskill continue her education in Animal Science. After graduating college, she plans on applying for veterinarian school majoring in Equine Business Management.

UCHC congratulates Zoe and wishes her a successful future!

2021 UCHC Scholarship Winner: Morgan Peck

Ulster County Horse Council is pleased to announce the winner of our 2021 Scholarship is Morgan Peck of Phoenicia, NY. Morgan is 17 years old and a graduated senior of Onteora High School. Morgan tells us that farm life and horses are in her blood. Horses have been in her family for generations on both her parents sides. She enjoys both driving and riding her horses. Her dream is to one day have her own farm where she can host horse events, offer boarding, provide massage therapy and more.

Morgan will be attending St. Andrews University majoring in Equine Business Management. UCHC congratulates Morgan and wishes her all the best in her equine future. "TROT ON!"

2019 UCHC Scholarship Winner: Mikayla Bonner & Freckles

Please join us in congratulating Mikayla as the we present her as the $500.00 - 2019 Ulster County Horse Council Scholarship award winner. Mikayla is a 2019 Wallkill Central School District graduate who plans on continuing her education in the Fall at Le Moyne College. She will be studying Biology and then intends on continuing on to Veterinary Medicine School focusing on Equine and Livestock.

Mikayla has been a dedicate rider since she was 7 years old and hopes to one day own her own practice.
