The New York State Horse Council (NYSHC) will award two different one thousand ($1,000.00) awards per-year! The first award is a Youth Scholarship that will be given to a NYSHC member whose age is 16 to 24 years old within the given year. The second award is an Adult Educational Grant which will be awarded to a NYSHC member whose age is 25 years and older.
Ulster County Horse Council is pleased to announce Zoe Hartrum of Saugerties, NY as the winner of our 2023 Scholarship. Zoe is 18 years old and a graduating senior of Saugerties High School and also has completed a two-year Animal Science Program at Ulster county BOCES. Zoe grew up around animals and loves caring for them. Her deep love for all animals developed while growing up around them at her grandparents' farm. Zoe has a very easy going personality, is crafty and loves to draw, paint, read and just have fun.
Zoe will be attending SUNY Cobleskill continue her education in Animal Science. After graduating college, she plans on applying for veterinarian school majoring in Equine Business Management.
UCHC congratulates Zoe and wishes her a successful future!
Ulster County Horse Council is pleased to announce the winner of our 2021 Scholarship is Morgan Peck of Phoenicia, NY. Morgan is 17 years old and a graduated senior of Onteora High School. Morgan tells us that farm life and horses are in her blood. Horses have been in her family for generations on both her parents sides. She enjoys both driving and riding her horses. Her dream is to one day have her own farm where she can host horse events, offer boarding, provide massage therapy and more.
Morgan will be attending St. Andrews University majoring in Equine Business Management. UCHC congratulates Morgan and wishes her all the best in her equine future. "TROT ON!"
Please join us in congratulating Mikayla as the we present her as the $500.00 - 2019 Ulster County Horse Council Scholarship award winner. Mikayla is a 2019 Wallkill Central School District graduate who plans on continuing her education in the Fall at Le Moyne College. She will be studying Biology and then intends on continuing on to Veterinary Medicine School focusing on Equine and Livestock.
Mikayla has been a dedicate rider since she was 7 years old and hopes to one day own her own practice.
